The Best National/World News Site Award went to both the Global NYTimes.com and FT.com, while Aljazeera online and iTV.com/news received commendations. Other nominees for this award included Aswat Masriya by the Thomson Reuters Foundation, and the Huffington Post UK by AOL post Media group.
'Watching Syria's War' – an on-going video gallery of the conflict in Syria on NYTimes.com – was awarded Best Use of Crowd Sourcing or Citizen Journalism. Edited by Liam Stack, 'Watching Syria's War' has tracked the human toll of the Syrian conflict since June 2012. Supported by text and Twitter posts, the online footage offers audiences a primary source to a widening war, documented like no other.
