The Corriere della Sera is to make major changes to its digital edition, adding new content and editorial specially designed for tablet and smartphone to the existing ability to browse all the Corriere’s publications. The new version will be launched on 10 September.
The new app – which is the same across all devices and operating systems – retains the ability to browse PDF versions of the newspaper but also a dedicated editorial team manage the contents of the app, including updating the PDF versions of the news as the stories evolve during the day, with all developments clearly marked for the reader.
The PDFs will also be complemented by videos, photo galleries, short but detailed overviews of complex topics, and an encyclopaedia called “Corrierepedia”, providing explanations of tricky terms and abbreviations that are used in the newspaper.
In addition, the app’s editorial team will provide new, premium content viewable direct from the new app’s cover page, to highlight and guide readers towards the day’s most important issues, with the best reporting and analysis. Every morning at 6.30 am, a guide to the most interesting articles in the newspaper called “Oggi nel Corriere” and the “Bussola di oggi” where the Corriere’s editors will offer a guide to the events that will feature in the upcoming day’s news, will be released.
From the 7.30 am will be available a press roundup of the stories to keep an eye on from Italian and international newspapers, with links to the relevant articles. In addition, a shorter version of the Corriere will be released twice a day, at 1 pm and 7.30 pm, giving readers an overview of the main news.
